Here is how you make Basic Hummus:

Place chickpeas in a pot with 3 cups water and baking soda. Bring to boil, and cook for 2 minutes. Remove from heat, cover and let sit for 1 hour. Place back on heat, bring to boil, and simmer until peas are soft. Cool chickpeas and drain.Place cooked chickpeas, and all other ingredients in a blender or food processor.
