3 cups dry pinto beans
8 oz Farmland 95% Fat Free Cubed Ham
1 Tbsp *Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 Med Sweet Red Pepper
1/2 Yellow Onion
3 cloves Garlic
1 fresh cayenne pepper
1 Tbsp Dry Cayenne Pepper
1 Tbsp Black Pepper


How Do I Make Spicy Pinto Bean Soup?

Here is how you make Spicy Pinto Bean Soup:

Rinse pinto beans, pick out any pebbles...put in pot and cover with water and soak over night. Drain and rinse the beans. Put in heavy pot and cover with water. There should be about 2 inches water above bean level. Add ham. Bring to a boil and turn down to a simmer. Simmer until soft, about 2 hours. While beans are cooking, dice onion and pepper. Heat oil in a skillet and saute onion and pepper. Add minced garlic. Chop hot pepper into a small dice. Add to onion, peppers and garlic. Put this mixture into the pot with the pinto beans, add chili powder, dry cayenne powder and black pepper. Continue to cook for about another 45-60 minutes. Put about 2 cups of soup into a blender and blend until smooth, carefully pour back into pot.
