6 ounces of grated swiss cheese (I used cheddar)

Here is how you make Savoyarde Soup:

Wash & thinly sllice the vegetables.Melt buttter in a 3 quart saucepan. Add the onions and cook them over medium-high heet for 3 minutes or until they become light brown.Add the leeks, turnip & celery; season with salt & pepper. Cover and cook the vegetables over medium low heat for 15 minutes. Stir occasionally.Mix in the potatoes. Pour in the chicken stock and season to taste. Bring the liquid to a boil over high heat. Then, reduce the heating element to medium and simmer for an additional 20minutes or until the potatoes are done.Stir in the milk, correct the seasoning and simmer the soup for another 10minutes.Serve sprinkled with the grated cheese, or, if desired, brown the cheese under the broiler before serving.Serving Size: Makes 4 2-cup servingsNumber of Servings: 4Recipe submitted by SparkPeople user VALERIE1958.
