Macaroni, whole-wheat, .5 cup elbow shaped
Beans, red kidney, 1 cup - rinse and drain
chopped fresh parsley, 2 tbsp

How Do I Make Winter Farmhouse Soup?

Here is how you make Winter Farmhouse Soup:

Prepare all vegetables. Heat the olive oil in a large pot, add the onion and cook over a low heat for about 5 minutes until softened. Add the carrot, turnip, and rutabaga (Swede) chunks, canned tomatoes, tomato paste, dried herbs. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Pour in the stock or water and bring to a boil. Stir well, cover the pan, lower the heat and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the pasta to the pan and bring quickly to a boil, stirring. Lower the heat and simmer, uncovered, for about 8 minutes until the pasta is only just tender, or according to the instructions on the packet. Stir frequently. Stir in the kidney beans. Heat through for 2 - 3 minutes, then remove the pan from the heat and stir in 2 tbsp chopped parsley. Adjust seasoning to taste. Serve hot with grated parmesan sprinkled over the top.
