2 tomatoes, chopped
2 green chiles, chopped
1-inch piece of fresh ginger, chopped
3 plump cloves of garlic, chopped

1 Tbs cilantro leaves, chopped

Here is how you make Dal Soup:

Makes 4 - 1 cup servings.Wash the dal very well and soak for 15 minutes in water.Drain the dal and add to a pot with 5 cups of fresh water. Add the tomatoes, chiles, ginger, garlic and turmeric powder. Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to med. Add salt to taste. Cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the cilantro and curry leaves and cook for an additional 5 minutes.Serve with and a tbsp of greek yogurt.
