Here is how you make Curried Split Pea Soup:

Saute onions and carrots in olive oil until softened. Add garlic and ginger, cook about 1 minute. Add spices and allow to become fragrant. Add water/broth and split peas. Allow to boil, then put on lid and simmer about 1 hour. While peas simmer, lightly brown smoked sausage. You can blend soup after cooking for smoother texture. Add sausge last.
