I had to improvise the recipe for times when I wanted the stew and couldn't make the roast. This is my comfort food. This is not a low calorie recipe for weight loss. I plan to try it with whole wheat flour.

Here is how you make Grandpa Koch's Porridge (Rivlet Stew):

Brown steak in a large saucepan or soup pan. Loosen brown bits of the cooked meat from pan before adding the water. Bring water and meat to a rolling boil.In a fairly large bowl, place flour. Add salt, pepper, and thyme. Mix eggs in a small bowl then add to flour mix. Stir well until no egg is visible and flour appears moist. (It will appear very crumbly. Try to avoid any large lumps.)Add flour mixture to boiling water. Stirring to break up any large clumps. (Otherwise you could have large clumps of uncooked flour.) Turn heat down to medium high, stirring frequently.
