How Do I Make Red Beans?Here is how you make Red Beans: Dice bacon and saute in a large stock pot. Once bacon begins to crisp and fat begins to render, add the sliced hot link. Cook to brown and render fat. Add the diced vegetables, except the garlic and cook until tender. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add the red beans, beer and water to cover. Stir in the Old Bay, tobasco and pepper. Cook on low for 6-8 hours. At this point, I usually transfer to a crock pot and cook on low all day. About an hour before serving, taste and add salt to taste if needed. Serve in bowls over rice. (1 cup of beans, 1/2 cup of rice.
