4 c beef broth
2 c water
1 c carrots, chopped

1 lb beef round, cubed
2 Tbsp flour

Here is how you make Beef and Roots Stew:

Chop up all ingredients. In a large heavy pot heat the canola oil. Saute the onion and garlic in the hot oil. Add the cubed beef and sear them. Stir constantly to make sure all sides get browned. Sprinkle the flour over the meat and mix well, allowing the flour to brown as well. Add the broth, bay leaf, and water. Bring to a low boil and reduce heat. Allow to simmer for 25- 30 minutes.Add the carrots, celery, turnips, potatoes, and diced tomatoes. Bring back to a boil and reduce heat again.
