1 lb. beef chuck for stew
4 cups Chicken Broth
4 cups water
3 medium carrots chopped into bite sized pieces
5 medium potatoes chopped into bite sized pieces
Italian Seasoning to taste *I like McCormick
1 tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste

1/2 stick of butter
1/4 cup of flour


How Do I Make Homestyle Beef Stew?

Here is how you make Homestyle Beef Stew:

1. Heat a large pot coated with cooking spray on medium heat. Add onions and celery and cook for 5 minutes or until veggies are "sweated." Add a pinch of salt and pepper if desired to speed the sweating process.2. While, the veggies are sauteeing, prepare your meat by cutting any large pieces into bite sized morsels. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper--just enough to coat the meat.3. After the onions and celery have cooked for 4 minutes, add the garlic and cook the final minute. Remove from pan and set aside.4. Respray the pan with cooking spray and add the meat. Cook until brown on all sides. Add the onion, celery and garlic mixture back into the pan and cook for 2 more minutes together.5. Cover the meat and veg mixture with 4 cups of chicken stock. Add Italian Seasoning (about a TBSP) and Worcestershire Sauce. Bring to boil and reduce to medium low heat to simmer.6. Simmer the mixture for about 1 hour or until the chicken broth has reduced down by half. Then add 2 cups of water. Cover. Continue to add water as needed every 15 minutes.7. After the meat has simmered on medium low for about 2.5 hours, add carrots. 8. At the 3 hour mark, add potatoes.
