What Are The Ingredients For Beef Rendang Recipe?The ingredients for Beef Rendang are: 1.5 teas salt1 teas tumeric .5 teasp chilli powder 6 garlic cloves 2inch piece of fresh root ginger (peeled & grated - works best when frozen) 2inch piece of fresh glangal (peeled & grated) 1 teas black peppercorns 4 cardamon pods (bruised) 4 red chillies (chopped) 1 lemon grass stalk (finely chopped) 2 tblsp tamarind Water (50g of tamarind puree added to 150g water) 3 tblsp coconut or vegetable oil 750g braising beef (sliced) 150ml water 1 tblspn dark brown sugar 4 kaffir lime leaves (shredded) 3 star anise 1 large cinnamon stick * I also add 1/2 a large aubergine (thin strips) too, which is also quite nice How Do I Make Beef Rendang?Here is how you make Beef Rendang: 1. Put salt, tumeric, chilli powder, garlic, ginger, glangal, peppercorns, cardmons, chillies in food processor and process until roughtly chopped or pound in a mortar with a pestle. Add lemon grass and onions, an dproces to a dry paste. Add the tamarind water and blend to a soft paste2. Heat oil in large saucepan and fry the beef until browned on all sides. Remove with a slotted spoon and reserve3. Add the spice paste to the hot pan and friy for 2-3min, stirring constantly. Return the beef to the pan with all the remaining ingredients and bring slowly to the boil, stirring constantly.4. Reduce the heat and simmer very gently for 4-4.5hrs, stirring occasionally, or cook until the meat is tender and the sauce has reduced and thickened.5.
