3 large idaho potatoes, 2tbsp. Evoo, 1/4lb bacon, 1lb ground beef, 1tbsp. paprika, parsley, 1 med. onion, 2 carrots, 3 celery ribs, 1 sm. bell peper, 2 cups frozen peas, 2tbsp. flour, 2cups chicken broth, 1 egg, 3 tbsp butter, 5tbsp chives.


How Do I Make Shepherds pie?

Here is how you make Shepherds pie:

Dice carrots, celery, onion, bacon, bell peper, chives and potatoes.Heat a med pot of water to boil, salt and cook potatoes while you make the rest.Heat a large deep skillet over med. heat. Add evoo and bacon. Brown bacon and drain.Add ground beef and season with peper, salt, paprika and parsley. When beef is brown add celery, carrots and onion and cook for 5 minutes, stir occasionally.Add bell peper and peas, cook for 2 more minutes.Stir in flour and cook another 2 minutes.Add broth and combine, simmer over low heat 10-12 minutes.Pre-heat broiler to high.When potatoes are tender take 1 laddle cooking water and wisk into egg.Drain potatoes and place back in warm pan. Let sit for a few minutes to dry out some. Then stir egg into potatoes and butter. Mash them up. If they seem too thick add a little bit of milk.Pour beef mixture into a cassarole dish, top with potatoes spread evenly and brown in broiler.
