Recipe? The ingredients for Apple Butter (serving = 1 tbsp.) are: 12 lbs. apples, peeled and cut into chunks1 gallon apple cider 3 cups sugar 3 tsp. ground cinnamon 1 tsp ground cloves Other spices to taste (nutmeg, ginger) How Do I Make Apple Butter (serving = 1 tbsp.)?Here is how you make Apple Butter (serving = 1 tbsp.): 1. Combine apples and cider in one large or several smaller stockpots. Leave headroom in each pot, as the volume will swell as the apples cook.2. Cook apples over medium-high heat until very soft, 25-30 minutes. 3. With an immersion blender or regular blender, puree apples until very smooth. Add sugar and spices, stirring to dissolve sugar. Taste for balance and adjust accordingly. (I like my apple butter on the tart side.)4. Cook the applesauce over very low heat for several hours, until thick and splattering everywhere. (An inverted metal colander, splatter screen, or inverted metal steamer basket helps a lot here - you want to cook the apple butter uncovered, but towards the end it will splatter like crazy!) To test for the desired consistency, take a small spoonful and put it in the refrigerator for a few minutes. If there are no juices running out the sides, and if the thickness is to your liking, it's finished. The whole process usually takes me 4-5 hours.5. Ladle hot apple butter into sterilized mason jars, and process in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes if you want them to be shelf stable. Otherwise, just pop the lids on, invert them on a towel and let cool. Store in the refrigerator.Serving Size:?Makes 12.5 cups of apple butter, serving is 1 tbsp. What's The Nutritional Info For Apple Butter (serving = 1 tbsp.)?The nutritional information for Apple Butter (serving = 1 tbsp.) is:
