2 - 3oz pkgs cream cheese, softened (can use low-fat)
3-4 small eggs (can use egg beaters)
1/4 cup plus 2 tbsp milk (whole, low- fat, skim)
12 slices cinnamon raisin bread
1 tbsp sugar ( can use artificial)
1 tsp vanilla extract
4 tsp butter or margarine or diet
Maple syrup (can use diet)
Confectioners sugar ( opt)
Sliced pears & seedlees grapes for garnish, optional


How Do I Make Elegant French Toast?

Here is how you make Elegant French Toast:

In a 12-inch skillet on med heat, toast almonds until brown; set aside. In a small bowl, mix cream cheese and 2 Tbsp milk until blended. Evenly spread cream cheese mixture on 6 slices of bread. Top with remailning bread slices. In a pie plate, mix eggs, sugar, vanilla and 1/4 cup milk until blended. In same skillet, heat 2 tsp butter or margarine until melted. Dip each side of sandwich in egg mixture, 3 at a time. Cook until brown on both sides; repeat with remaining sandwiches. Cut sandwiches diagonally; sprinkle with powder sugar and almonds.
