What Are The Ingredients For 3-Grain Hotcakes Recipe?The ingredients for 3-Grain Hotcakes are: 1/2 c. quick cooking oatmeal1/2 c. yellow cornmeal 2 c. 1% milk 2 tbs. vinegar 1 egg, beaten 1 tbs. canola oil 1 cup whole wheat flour 1 tbs. packed brown sugar 1 tsp. shredded orange peel 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt How Do I Make 3-Grain Hotcakes?Here is how you make 3-Grain Hotcakes: 1. Mix the vinegar and milk together; let sit a few minutes.2. Combine oatmeal and cornmeal in a medium mixing bowl; stir in milk and vinegar mixture. Soak the mixture for 10 minutes, stirring 2 times.3. combine flour, brown sugar, orange peel, baking soda, baking powder and salt.4. Add to oatmeal mixture and stir until smooth.5. Heat griddle or non-stick skillet over medium heat; lightly coat with oil or use non stick spray. Pour 1/4 c. batter onto griddle spreading to make 4 to 5 inch circles. cook until edges lose their wet and shiny look, about 1 minute; flip hotcake. Cook second side until brown and baked through, about another minute. Continue until all batter is used.The batter will be slightly thin but will puff during cooking.Recipe makes about 16 hotcakes. serve with Butter Stewed Fruit (not in nutrition count) or your favorite syrup or topping.Butter Stewed Fruit3 large or 4 small pears or apples, choppedSprinkle 1/4 c. orange juice over fruit. Melt 2 tbs. butter or margarine in a skillet; ( i used low fat margarine) Add the apples or pears and 1/4 cup dried blueberries or cranberries. Cook over medium heat until orange juice boils. Sprinkle with 1/8 cup brown sugar, 1/8 cup splenda and a dash of salt. Cook over low heat, uncovered, until tender and liquid is reduced, about 12 minutes. Fruit may be stewed ahead of time and kept covered and refrigerated for up to 3 days. reheat for serving.
