1. Measure flour, sugar, baking powder, soda and salt into a largebowl. Cut in butter until crumbly. Add shredded apple, 1/4 c milk, applesauce, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. Stir to form a soft dough.2. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead gently 8 - 10 times. Pat into two 6-inch round circles or drop by rounded spoonfuls onto a greased baking sheet.
