2 scant Tablespoons yeast
1/2 cup oil
1/4 cup sugar (plain bread only requires 2 Tablespoons)
1 1/2 t salt
About 5 cups of flour.

How Do I Make Christmas Bread?

Here is how you make Christmas Bread:

Put warm water, yeast, oil and sugar into a large mixing bowl. Add as much flour as you can mix with a spoon. Let the bread rest for 10 minutes. Knead in enough flour to make the dough not sticky. After the dough has doubled in size divide it into 4 pieces. Roll each quarter into a rectangle. Put filling in the middle. Make slits about 1 1/2 inches apart down the sides. "Braid" the dough over the top. Filling:Microwave 8 oz of cream cheese for about 1 min.add 1/4 cup of sugar and flavored extract to taste. (My family likes almond and lemon.)You can also fill it with canned pie filling or flavored cream cheese and pie filling. We like cream cheese and cherry pie filling.
