What Are The Ingredients For King Cake with Apple Filling Recipe?The ingredients for King Cake with Apple Filling are: 4 3/4 c wheat flour1/2 c Splenda 1/2 c granulated sugar 1 1/2 c salt 2 pkg rapid rising yeast 3/4 c 2% milk 1/2 c water 1/3 c Smart Balance 2 medium eggs or 1 large egg For filling: 4 medium apples 2 ounces Splenda brown sugar blend Pinch of cloves 1/4 c Smart Balance melted 1 T cinnamon Confectioners Sugar Glaze: 2c c confectioner's sugar sifter 2-3 T milk or water How Do I Make King Cake with Apple Filling?Here is how you make King Cake with Apple Filling: Combine 2 packets of yeast, 1/4 c sugar and 1/2 cup water at 120-130 F in a bowl.Mix well and set aside to a warm place for 10 minutes.Combine 4 c flour, 1/4 c sugar, 1/2 c Splenda and 1 and 1/2 teas. salt.Add warm 3/4 c 2% milk, 1/3 c melted Smart Balance butter, 1 large egg and yeast mixture.Beat until smooth.Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead in enough remaining flour until the dough is no longer sticky (should be about 3/4 c).Continue kneading dough until the dough is smooth and elastic (about 10 minutes).Place dough in a well-greased bowl.Turn once so greased surface is on top.Cover the dough and let rise in a warm place until doubled in bulk (about 1 and 1/2 hours).In the meantime, peel and chop 4 medium apples. Cook them down in a saucepan with 2 ounces Splenda brown sugar blend and a pinch of cloves. Cool and save for filling.Preheat oven to 350 F.Punch dough down and place on lighlly floured surface. Divid into 3 equal pieces. Roll each to 28 x 4 inch rectangle. Add filling.Beginning at long end roll each up tightly like a jellyroy. Pinch seams to seal to form ropes. Braid rops.
