3 Tbsp shortening (Crisco type)
1/2 c nonfat milk (or less. Add gradually)

Here is how you make Mom's Cherry Cobbler:

Oven to 400. 8" square glass pan. (do not spray or grease pan)Filling:Drain 3 cans cherries and SAVE JUICE.Mix sugar and cornstarch together in heavy saucepan. Stir in 1 cup of juice and cook, stirring constantly to prevent lumps, until thick. Add cherries and pour all into 8" square pan.Topping:sift flour, sugar, salt and baking powder together. Cut in shortening. Add milk gradually. Mix well with a fork. Drop by tablespoons onto cherry mixture to make 9 cobbles.
