5 cups warm tap water (100 degrees)
5 oz yeast (by weight)
2 1/2 ox sugar
1 oz salt (by weight)
2/3 cup vegetable oil
5 lb. high glutin flour

Salt & Poppy Seed Topping
3 parts kosher salt
1 part poppy seeds

Garlic & Olive Oil Mixture
2 cloves fresh garlic chopped very, very fine
3 oz olive oil
1 tsp basil
1 tsp oregano


How Do I Make House Bread?

Here is how you make House Bread:

Mix water, yeast, sugar, salt & vegetable oil in bowl & allow to stand for a few minutes to allow the yeast to dissolve. Add flour & mix well for 5 minutes or until smooth in consistency. Remove from mixer & portion each loaf of bread to 1 lb. Roll dough, tubular style to desired length (prox 25" long). Use 1 oz ladle of kosher salt & poppy seed mixture for each 2 loaves of bread. Roll the dough in mixture & place on a well greased baking sheet. Cut dough, diagonally (7 cuts), with scissors, almost all way through making 8 slices of bread. Brush dough well with garlic & olive oil mixture making sure to brush in the cuts as well. Bake in preheated oven at 450 degrees for 10 min.
