What Are The Ingredients For St. Lucia Buns Recipe?The ingredients for St. Lucia Buns are: 1/3 cup milk1/4 cup butter 1 package dry yeast 1/4 cup sugar 2 eggs 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. saffron 2 3/4 cups flour 1 tbsp. cooking oil How Do I Make St. Lucia Buns?Here is how you make St. Lucia Buns: 1. Warm milk in small saucepan. Cut butter into small pieces and add to milk, stir and turn off heat.2. Add 1/4 cup lukewarm water to yeast, stir well and set aside for 5 minutes.3. Add milk/butter mixture to yeast. Stir in sugar, 1 egg, salt, saffron. Then add 1 1/2 cups flour, stir until smooth. 4. Add one more cup of flour to mixture so you can shape dough into a ball. 5. Knead the dough, adding extra flour when it gets sticky. (5-10 minutes) Dough should spring back when touched.6. Cover dough with towel and let it rest.7. Spread cooking oil in large bowl, roll the dough in this until coated, then cover bowl with towl and set in a warm place to rise (about 45 minutes) Dough should be about twice the size as before.8. Divide dough into 6 sections. With each section, divide this into 2 and roll each into an 8 inch rope. Cross the two over each other in the middle, then coil the four ends into the center. Repeat with 5 other sections.9. Place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Cover with towel and let rise for another 30-45 minutes. Preheat oven to 350. 10. Mix 1 egg and 1 tbsp. water with a fork, then brush lightly over buns. (Decorate with raisins optional)11. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until golden brown.
