red pepper flakes (optional; to taste)
several teaspoons of canned, diced chile peppers (optional; to taste)

Here is how you make American Chop Suey:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare an oven safe dish (5 qt. or 13 X 9 inch) by spraying with cooking spray.2. Cook ground turkey, chopped onion and green pepper over medium/ medium-high heat until the turkey is done (no pink).3. In a separate pot, boil water and cook pasta until al dente (will depend on variety of pasta). Drain. Note: this is a great use of left-over pasta4. Combine cooked meat, cooked pasta, and all remaining ingredients EXCEPT the mozzarella cheese. Place in oven-safe dish. Cover and bake for 25 minutes.5. Remove from oven and sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese.
