2 lbs lean ground beef
1 small can tomato sauce
4 tbsp bbq sauce of choice
1 egg
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1 packet McCormick's meatloaf seasoning
1/4 tsp ground sage


How Do I Make Missa's Country Meatloaf?

Here is how you make Missa's Country Meatloaf:

Mix the ground beef, raw egg, seasonings, bread crumbs, half the can of tomato sauce and 2 tbsp of bbq sauce very well until of an even squishy consistency. Pack well into a loaf pan or a deep casserole. Bake covered in a preheated oven at 350.While that is baking, take the remaining half of the tomato sauce and bbq sauce and heat up in a pot on the stove, cook it for a couple minutes until it begins to thicken. This is the sauce for the top of the meatloaf. You can add ketchup to this to make a larger amount for covering the meatloaf. After 30 minutes, remove and uncover the meatloaf. Drain all the fat thats possible from the pan. You may have to drain a couple times. Then cut the meatloaf into 8 even slices. Cover the top of the meatloaf with the sauce and continue to bake uncovered this time for half an hour or so. Turkey as a substitute would cut calories significantly. Also, for a portioning idea, consider dividing the raw meat into the compartments of a muffin tin and baking mini loaves but you'll have to put foil down or something in case of grease overflow.
