1 cup brown rice
0.5 cup kidney beans
0.33 cup coconut milk
2 2/3 cup water
6 whole all spice
1/2 cube maggie bouillion
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp red pepper flakes
1 tsp black pepper


How Do I Make Jamaican Rice and Peas (Beans)?

Here is how you make Jamaican Rice and Peas (Beans):

I use raw, uncooked kindey beans so I soak them overnight with just enough water to cover them. Place 0.5 cup soaked kidney beans with 1 cup water in a pot. Cook at medium heat until beans are half cooked (abt 20-30 mins). Add in 1 cup brown rice with 1 cup water. Cook for abt 25 mins until rice is half cooked. Add in 1/3 cup coconut milk and 2/3 cup water along with all the seasoning. Let all the ingredients come to a boil, then turn the heat down to low for abt 20-25 mins until rice is cooked through. Make sure to not touch/disrupt the rice when it is on low. If it needs more water just a few tablespoons at a time.
