I make this sauce differently every time I make it, but this time I used what I had on hand.

1 tsp. olive oil
1 medium carrot, chopped into thin slices
1 medium onion, diced
1 8 oz package of button mushrooms
1 28 oz can diced tomatoes
1 TB tomato paste


How Do I Make Simple Marinara Sauce?

Here is how you make Simple Marinara Sauce:

Sautee onion and carrot in olive oil over MH heat until softened. Add mushrooms and cook until they start to release their juices. Add canned tomatoes and cook for a few minutes more, then add tomato paste. Bring to a boil and season to taste. This time I used salt, pepper, crushed red pepper flakes, oregano, and a seasoning mix that I happened to have on hand. I'm not giving amounts of the spices b/c I really don't measure them, I just add until it tastes how I want it to. Once you have adjusted seasoning, lower heat to low and simmer 30-45 minutes.
