* Olive Oil, 2 tbsp
* Onions, raw, 1 cup, chopped
* Celery, raw, 1 stalk, medium (7-1/2" - 8" long)
* Carrots, raw, 2 cup, chopped
* Beef, top sirloin, 16 oz
* Guinness Draught Stout Beer, 16 oz
* Water, tap, 10 cup (8 fl oz)
* Potato, raw, 5 small (1-3/4" to 2-1/2" dia.)
* Salt, 1 tbsp


How Do I Make Irish Guinness Stew?

Here is how you make Irish Guinness Stew:

I start with olive oil in a heated stock pot. I add the veggies to saute (all but potatoes) and then toss in the meat to brown. I deglaze the pan with the beer on top after the beef has browned. Let the veggies and beef simmer in the beer for about 30 minutes or so. I then add the salt and the water and bring to a nice boil then add the potatoes and reduce the heat. Let the stew simmer until potatoes are nice and soft. Taste and season to taste. I served with a Wheaten Bread made from another member here and the recipe is saved in my SP faves if you want it.
