I brown one side of the bread in a frying pan using the butter. I "pile on" the meat, Sauerkraut and cheese, in that order on BOTH pieces of bread, separating it into halves. I place the 2 "sides" of the sandwich under the broiler on the MIDDLE rack until the cheese melts, and the ingredients are warmed.
