1/2 red onion, cut into 1 inch pieces
1 tsp of garlic, chopped
4 Tlsp olive oil
1 lg can tomatoes
1 sm can tomato paste
1/2 cup of red wine
italian seasonings
2 bay leaves
1 tsp dried basil
3 cups cooked whole wheat pasta
2 cups mozzarella cheese, divided


How Do I Make Whole Wheat Pasta Casserole?

Here is how you make Whole Wheat Pasta Casserole:

Cook pasta in boiling salted water according to package directions. In large skillet, heat olive oil and add pepper, onion, bay leaves and garlic, stir over medium heat until vegetables are just starting to become tender. Add italian seasonings to taste and basil. Stir in tomatoes and tomato paste with wine. Bring to boil and simmer about 5 minutes. Drain pasta, and mix it with tomato sauce and 1 cup of cheese in large mixing bowl. Pour into a greased shallow baking dish, cover with foil and cook in 350 degree oven for 30 minutes. Remove foil and add remaining 1 cup of cheese to top and put back in oven for 5 more minutes.
