How Do I Make Holy Moly Stromboli?

Here is how you make Holy Moly Stromboli:

In large saucepan, on medium heat, stir and cook lean ground turkey meat with chopped green pepper and 1/2 of the chopped white onion with the ground mild italian sausage meat and chopped fresh garlic cloves until thoroughly cooked. Stir and break down until brown, caramelized, and cooked all the way through. Drain and set aside into large mixing bowl and cover preserving heat or place over heating pad.Cut up all the fresh ingredients into 1/4" pieces. Use mostly the "buds" of the broccoli, not the "stem or tree trunk" part. Thinly slice the mushrooms. Grate the cheeses by hand and set them aside keeping them seperate from each other. If you can get either gigantic sliced pepperoni do that, or get the long thick link do so, this dramatically enhances the character of the overall stromboli. If you get the link or "tube" of turkey pepperoni, cut into thick 1/2" slices and then quarter and halve them, producing nice chunks. If you have gigantic sliced turkey pepperoni, don't alter it, keep the slices thin and large.Mix all the ingredients except the cheeses together in the large warm mixing bowl with the meats, including the rest of the onion.Using the Pillsbury Hot Dinner Roll Mix (following its instructions on the box), add your egg and flour and whatever it tells you to make a big dough and using flour on a surface, use a rolling pin and spread the dough out into 2(two) large oval bread loaf shaped pieces about 1/2" thick. Generously apply ingredients to center of dough piece doing so in a left to right fashion. Keep the cluster in the center, as you will fold the sides up onto itself to enclose it. Add your cheese in layers with ingredients, or just on top of ingredients at this time. Fold the little ends of the dough up over the ingredients forming the "ends" and then fold the large sides "top and bottom or front and back, nearest you and furthest from you" up to meet each other, give them a fold, then place down on top of the entire loaf, providing a solid enclosure with no leaks. This should be a strong thick dough with no thin "see through" weak spots. The thick dough will dry while baking but soak up grease and liquids from the ingredients and cheeses, so keep it thick before putting into oven.Using a stick of butter(or even parkay spray) rub the top of the dough generously and then sprinkle gently with garlic powder, or any other herbs you may wish to help form and flavor a golden brown top to your masterpiece. Butter or grease a big cooking sheet and place the 2(two) loaves of stromboli perfection into an oven at a lower temp like 375*. The lower temperature is to help ensure the cheese has time to melt upon turnout. This is important to the character of the stromboli. If you cook it too fast, everything else will come out great except for the cheese, so give yourself time to let it cook a little longer as it approaches beautiful golden brown doughy crust and melts cheese better in the process. When done and smelling wonderfully and making everybody within fragranct range drooling, allow the loaves to cool at room temperature while singing christmas carols or joining in holiday festivities and socializing with friends or family. Finally, wrap loaves in aluminum foil and or plastic wrap and place into refridgerator overnight.Serve by slicing a portion (as you would cut a meatloaf for example) 1"-to-3" long per serving. Serve cold, room temperature (average), or warm quick in the microwave as one would banana bread with butter on top or reheating a leftover perhaps, say 10-15 seconds or so.Reap the rewards of your artistic culinary masterpiece by enjoying all comments and endulging in a savory slice yourself of flavor perfection. Enjoy the holidays.1 loaf serves 6. 2 loaves serves 12 (1 dozen.)Repeat next year, making as many loaves as you wish.Number of Servings: 12Recipe submitted by SparkPeople user MACH27.
