1/2 cup Canola or Sunflower oil
1/2 cup fancy molasses
1 tbsp Lyle's Golden Syrup (optional)
1 egg, beaten
2 tsp vanilla

Here is how you make Molasses Granola Bars:

You can easily swap out different ingredients for whatever you prefer or happen to have on hand, such as flax seeds, nuts, dried apricots, currants, or you could even use honey instead of brown sugar - or oat bran instead of wheat germ or apple sauce instead of some of the oil... Combine all the dry ingredients in a large bowl. In a small bowl or glass measuring cup, miix the oil, egg, molasses and vanilla together and add to dry ingredients, stirring well until all is combined - if it is a very dry or crumbly, you can always add a few drops of cold water and continue mixing until it all comes together. Pour mixture into an 8" x 8" pan and flatten out evenly with a spoon. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes, or slightly less if you prefer them chewier. Let them cool for about 5 minutes, then cut them into small squares - I cut them to be tiny, about 1" square and ended up with 36 servings.
