What Are The Ingredients For Challah Recipe?The ingredients for Challah are: 1 packet/2 1/4 tsp bakers yeast2 tsp honey 1 1/4 cup warm water 1/8 tsp saffron (optional) 4 1/2 cup bread flour 2 tsp salt 2 large eggs 2 tbsp vegetable or salad oil 4 tbsp poppy seeds (optional) 1 egg yolk How Do I Make Challah?Here is how you make Challah: Combine yeast, honey, and 1/4 cup warm water. Let stand for 5 minutes or until yeast becomes frothy. If using saffron, soak in remaining warm water, straining out before combining with other ingredients.Sift flour and salt into a bowl. Make a well in the center and drop eggs, oil, remaining water, and yeast mixture into the well. Work into the flour. Knead on a floured surface until smooth and elastic. Place in a bowl and brush top with a little oil or spray lightly with cooking spray. Cover with a towel, set in a warm place and let rise for 1 hour. Punch down, cover, and let rise again until double in size. Divide into 3 or 6 equal parts, depending on whether you are making 1 or 2 loaves. Lightly flour hands and roll dough into strips of equal length. Braid into 1 or 2 loaves and and place onto greased baking sheet (sprinkled with cornmeal or semolina flour) or into greased loaf pans if you desire typical loaf shaped bread. Cover with towel(s) and let rise until double in bulk. Brush gently with egg yolk, attempting to coat all exposed dough, and sprinkle with poppy seeds if desired.Bake in 375 degree Fahrenheit oven for 40-50 minutes for 1 large loaf, 30-40 minutes for 2 smaller loaves.Serving Size:?Makes approximately 32 1/2 inch slices.What's The Nutritional Info For Challah?The nutritional information for Challah is:
