Prep time is 15 min. The rest of the time is for rising and baking. Oven baking: Mix 2 cups of flour and the yeast. Add the sugar, salt, and water. Mix until smooth. Add the remaining flour mixing with a bread hook. Knead to dough until smooth. Form into a ball and put into bowl that is sprayed with Pam. Lightly cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled. Punch down the dough. Let rest 20 min. Roll out dough on floured surface to 9" x 10". Role up the dough from the 9" side and seal the ends to form a loaf. Put it in a 9" x 4 1/2" "Pammed" bread pan, cover and let rise approx. 45 min or until the top of the dough is 1" above the pan. Bake at 350 deg. for approx. 35 min. Use the thump test to determine when the bread is done.Note: This recipe produces a very light colored loaf. Do not bake until browned or it will be over cooked and dry. Makes 18 1/2" slices.Bread machine: Use French bread cycle. Add all ingredients. If the machine appears to be straining or the dough appears to be dry, add water a tsp at a time to correct.
