Pour warm water into a large bowl; add sugar, butter, and salt and stir until sugar and salt are dissolved and butter is melted.Sprinkle yeast over top and stir to dissolve.Add about half the flour, beating until smooth. Work in enough remaining flour until dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.Turn onto a floured surface and knead dough until smooth and elastic (approx. 8-10 minutes).Place in greased bowl, cover and place in oven with light on for about 1 hour or until doubled in bulk.Remove, punch dough down, form two loaves and place in loaf pans; return to oven for about 45 minutes or until doubled in bulk.Heat oven to 400F (375F for glass pans) and bake for about 30 minutes.
