How Do I Make Crusty Bread (No Knead)?

Here is how you make Crusty Bread (No Knead):

Mix in large bowl:3 cups flour1/2 tsp fast rise yeast (can use reg yeast, but must pre-activate prior to adding. To do so use warm water in place of cool tap water)1 3/4 tsp saltWhisk ingredients together well. If using regular yeast, omit yeast from this step and use it in conjunction with the water prior to adding.)Add 1 1/2 cups waterMix with spatula/spoon/etc. Dough will be shaggy. Cover with plastic wrap and set aside to proof for 12-18 hours. (I do this the night before and cook it the next morning before I leave for work, or let it proof while I am at work). When ready, preheat oven to 450 F. Place large pot (or glass pyrex dish/cast iron pot whatever you are using that can be covered with foil or with a lid and used in the oven) with lid/covering into the oven and let heat for 15 minutes.While pre-heating, turn out the dough onto a heavily floured surface. Dough will be EXTREMELY sticky, so I just dump it out onto the surface w/o using my hands.Shape the dough into a ball and cover with the plastic wrap/letting the dough rest while the oven/dish is heating.Once ready, place the dough directly into the pot/dish and cover. Place in the oven and bake for 20-30 minutes, removing the lid/cover for the last 10 minutes.Remove from oven and dish, and cool on a rack.Serving Size: Makes one loaf (8-12 3/4 inch slices)Number of Servings: 8Recipe submitted by SparkPeople user SEMUNKY.
