How Do I Make Grandma's Celery Pickels?

Here is how you make Grandma's Celery Pickels:

Slice pickles length wise and soak in cold water with 1 tsp Alum for a few hours or over night. Make syrup of 24 oz white vinegar, 8 oz water, 1 cup sugar, 1/4 cup salt. Heat to a boil. Makes 2 qts. Put onion, celery, dill, and pickles in hot jars. Pour boiling syrup in to jars with above ingredients. Seal with hot lids and rings.
