Bring the water to a boil and then add the oats to the boiling water. Leave the burner on high and boil the oats until they just begin to thicken. This will take about 5-8 minutes. Stir the oats every few minutes and scrape the bottom of the pot if they begin to stick. You will be able to hear the oats popping as they boil.2. Reduce the heat to a low simmer. Turn the dial as low as it will go to help prevent burning your oats. Allow the oats to cook for about 30 minutes, stirring every few minutes. Do not worry if the oats begin to stick to the bottom of the pot. Continue to stir and at some point near the 30 minute mark they usually stop sticking.3. After your oats have cooked for 30-35 minutes, remove from heat. An ideal consistency is thick and creamy, but not dry. Stir in 4 tablespoons of brown sugar and the frozen fruit. Allow the oats to cool for about 15 minutes. Store your oats in an airtight container in the refrigerator overnight.4. In the morning, the oats will be set and easily cut into 4 portions. Take a knife and cut the container of oats into four quarters. Place one serving in a microwave bowl. Add just a few drops of water and stir. Microwave on high for 1 minute.
