What Are The Ingredients For All-Butter Traditional Scottish Shortbread Recipe? The ingredients for All-Butter Traditional Scottish Shortbread are: 1 cup butter, softened2 cups flour, sifted 1/2 cup powdered sugar How Do I Make All-Butter Traditional Scottish Shortbread? Here is how you make All-Butter Traditional Scottish Shortbread: Preheat oven to 350F.Stir together the butter, flour, and powdered sugar. I usually find it helpful to sift the flour in gradually, but you don't HAVE to. Mix just until completely combined; too much mixing will harden the results. Dough will be quite crumbly. Empty dough into ungreased pan (either 9x13 or round cake pan) and press into pan at about 1/2 inch thick. Pierce with fork (designs, rows, whatever; I usually do the lines I'm going to cut and then about three piercings per shortbread finger/wedge) and place in oven for 5 minutes. Lower oven temperature to 300F and continue to bake for an additional 20-30 minutes. Bread should NOT be browned, but should still be light. Cut while hot if possible.Make 18 shortbread finger servings, or if done in a round cake pan about 14 wedges. The nutritional values are based on the 18 fingers result.
