makes 72 3" tall gingerbread man cookies. 1. Mix flour, baking powder, ginger, nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon together. set aside. 2. melt shorteneing and allow to cool. mix shortening, molasses or corn syrup, brown sugar, water, egg and vanilla together until smooth. add dry ingredients to wet. mix until completely absorbed. divide into 3 pieces. pat down to 1 1/2 in thickness. wrap in plastic wrap and refridgerate for at least 3 hours. 3. preheat oven to 350 degrees. on lightly floured surface roll out dough to 1/4 in thickness. cut into desired shapes. place on ungreased cookie sheet 1 in apart. 4. bake 10-12 minutes. when done will look dry but be soft to the touch. remove from baking sheet and place on wire racks to cool. frost when cool.
