Good Morning Bars

This is a recipe that my mother-in-law had, or at least the bare bones of the recipe is hers. My husband and I added and subtracted as we tried different ingredients. It's really full of fiber, and the flax seed helps "move you". I've noticed that I really get a great jump start on the day when I have a bar each morning!

How Do I Make Good Morning Bars?

Here is how you make Good Morning Bars:

Coat a 9 X13 pan with a cooking spray - make sure to give it a good coat; this will help you remove the bar from the pan later. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients into large mixing bowl - best to add milk last. Mix all together well and spread evenly into pan. Place in oven for approximately 1 hour. Allow to cool for at least 30 minutes. Remove from pan and cut into bars. I like to cut my bars into 7 strips across and 1 cut down the middle. This makes 14 perfect sized bars. I put them individually into a zip lock back and store them in the fridge. This makes them easy to grab on the way out the door! This is really the type of recipe that you can add "the kitchen sink" to; anything you have in your fridge, pantry that you think would be good you should try. Just remember, if you add a lot of dry ingredients - add some wet to balance it out. I think that the batter has the consistency of cooked oatmeal - if that helps to know what to look for.
