In a saucepan, place milk, both sugars, tapioca pearls and salt. Slowly bring to a boil stirring often as the temperature rises. Add a few spoonfuls of hot mixture to beaten egg yolks to equalize temperatures, and then mix in yolk mixture to pot, stirring while it thickens. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Stir.
