Preheat over to 500 DegreesMix together dry ingredients except cinnamon chips. Cut in butter to makes coarse meal texture. Stir in cinnamon chips. Add buttermilk and use a few strokes to mix together forming a rough ball. Turn onto floured board and knead not more than 10 times. You want your dough to be mixed but not so smooth as bread dough. Form a circle roughly 10inch diameter or 3/4" thick. (Alternately you can form two 6' Circles for smaller scones.)*Optional - sprinkle top of circle with course raw sugarCut circle into 12 wedge shaped pieces. Using a spatula or scraper transfer wedges to a lightly floured baking sheet.Place in oven and reduce heat to 450 degrees.Bake 15 minutes or until golden (check smaller scones at 10-12 minutes)Makes 12 servings.
