These rolls were made in my childhood home in Sweden in double batches, at least once a week. They were served as an afternoon snack, usually with milk or coffee. Heat milk.(About 110F, a little warmer than lukewarm). Put yeast in big bowl. Add a little of the milk. Let dissolve, preferably foam.2. Add butter to remaining milk. Melt. Add milk mixture, sugar, salt and cardamon. 3. Add flour until dough begins to release from bowl. Knead at least 5 minutes, until elastic and tends not to stick to board.4.Let rise in warm place (100F oven is perfect--will take only 30 min.) until double in bulk. 5. Mix together filling.6. Divide dough into two pieces. Roll out each one, spread with cardamon filling, slice or roll into little rosettes/knots, place in paper cups. (If you don't want them to stick to the cups, brush bottoms with melted butter.)7. Let rise again in the warm place until rolls are very light. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with sugar.
