Cut and sear bite size cubes of meat in 2 Tbsp of canola oil on Med-High heat. Drain and absorb excess oil with paper towel. Cut vegetables into bite size pieces. Combine meat and all other ingredients, except barley, in a crock pot and cook on low heat for 5 hours. Add barley and continue cooking 1 hour more.
