Here is how you make Chicken and Split Pea Soup:

I usually boil a 3 lb bag of frozen boneless, skinless chicken breasts in a large pot with the seasonings, so I can use the broth. I cut up enough chicken to yield 2 cups and save the rest for another dish (e.g., salads or sandwiches. It also freezes. Into the boiling chicken broth, add the peas and cook on low boil for about 15 minutes, stirring often. Add the chicken and other ingredients. Place in a crock pot and cook 4-6 hours on med. setting. If you prefer, you can simmer it in the original pot for about 3 hours. Mostly you want to make sure the peas and carrots are soft.
