Here is how you make Val's stew:

Put the olive oil in bottom of a big pot and then saute the chopped onion and chopped celery. Add the ground beef and cook until brown. Drain the extra fat after browned. Chop the potatoes, cabbage and carrots and add with the water, tomatoes, corn and peas in the pot . Simmer on medium heat for a half an hour, stirring occasionally.
