1 large onion chopped
3 cloves of garlic chopped finely or pressed
1 red pepper chopped
3 tomatoes chopped
2 Tbsp. canola or olive oil
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. Mexican chili powder
1 tsp. cumin
1 tsp. paprika
1 tsp. tumeric
1/2 cup water (more if needed)

Here is how you make Spicy Beans:

If using dry beans (1 cup) soak them overnight and cook before using in recipe.If using canned beans drain well before adding.In a frying pan add the onion, garlic and red pepper to the oil and fry lightly until the onion becomes clear. Add the tomatoes and cook until the tomatoes are soft. Add the beans, salt and all the spices. Mix well. Add the water. Cover and simmer for about 30 minutes.
