Add 1/2 cup peanut oil. When it's hot, fry tofu in small batches on both sides until golden brown. Drain the bean curd well on paper towels. Discard the oil from wok and wipe clean. Reheat wok and add 1-1/2 tsp of oil.Add scallions and garlic, and stir fry for 30 seconds.Put in the rest of ingredients except sesame oil.Bring the mixture to a boil. Return the fried bean curd pieces and cook over high heat for 10 minutes or until bean curd has absorbed most of the sauce. Add the sesame oil and give a final turn.
