How Do I Make Waffles Made with Whole Wheat FLour and Steelcut Oatmeal?

Here is how you make Waffles Made with Whole Wheat FLour and Steelcut Oatmeal:

1. Mix together the Flours, Baking Powder and Sugar. Keep in reserve.2. Mix the Eggs, Milk and Oil together. Then add the cooked Steelcut Oatmeal and mix well so that there are no oatmeal clumps.3. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix together.4. Spray the Waffle iron with Pam and then heat. 5. When Waffle Iron is hot, add just enough batter to fill.6. Close top and bake until steaming stops and waffles are crisp, tender & brown. The original recipe has salt, but I did not include it because the baking powder has it already and the additional salt would result in a very high sodium count. My family did not miss the salt. My family also did not notice any difference in the waffles when made with the whole wheat and white flour mixture. With the oatmeal, the waffles were more dense than regular waffles, but tasty per my family's comments. My waffle maker makes 4 waffles at a time, using about 1 cup of batter per batch. Cooking time will vary according to your waffle maker and because these are a bit dense. My waffle maker usually takes 8 to 10 minutes to cook a batch. Check often to prevent overcooked waffles.I usually serve the waffles with maple syrup and ham or bacon because my hubby is a meat eater.
