Soak beans together for an hour changing the water once. Then boil in plenty of water for an hour or until tender. Chop Onions, garlic, carrots and Tomatoes. Heat a frying pan or heavy bottomed pot with Olive oil in it. Add all the ingredients except the pasta and ricotta cheese. Cook everything over min-med heat until carrots are soft and onions are translucent. Boil water and cook pasta, drain and mix in with other ingredients.
