What Are The Ingredients For Apple Ham Hand-Pies Recipe? The ingredients for Apple Ham Hand-Pies are: Pastry Dough1 c flour 1/2 c butter 1 tsp sugar 1 tsp salt 1/4 c diced ham 1/4 c diced apple 1/2 finely diced onion (medium) 1 large clove of minced garlic 2-3 large eggs, scrambled 2 T butter (for sauteeing) Spices of your choosing (I used dill, nutmeg, pepper, and roasted coriander) 1/3 c Queso Fresco (soft cow cheese) How Do I Make Apple Ham Hand-Pies?Here is how you make Apple Ham Hand-Pies: Blend flour, sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl. Crumble or cut in butter, in 1T segments. Mix in water or milk a tablespoon at a time until dough comes together. Press into a disc and refrigerate 1 hour.(if you buy premade dough, the prep time is greatly reduced)Finely dice ham, apples, onion, and garlic. Melt butter in a saucepan and toss is dices item when it comes to a simmer - sautee until apples and onions are soft and fragrant. Remove from pan. Scramble eggs, finely, in remaining butter. Remove from pan. Allow both the eggs and apple-ham mixture to cool to warm or room temperature. Mix your two products together and crumble in your cheese. Begin to preheat the oven - I used 375 degrees but my oven runs hot.Remove the chilled dough and roll into rectangles - mine were about two by four inches. Make sure there are enough for both the tops and bottoms of the "pockets".Place filling on half the rectangles, leaving a small edge of dough exposed. Wet the edge, and press an untopped rectangle onto the filling. Seal the edges, and place on an oiled pan. Place small slits in the top dough like for a pie. You can egg-wash the top if you want a golden color.Bake approximately 15 minutes or until oil begins to bubble at the slits- as all ingredients in the filling are pre-cooked, we are just looking to bake the crust and melt the cheese. Remove pies and eat with hand or fork.
